Akai MPC Element – Music Production Controller

The Akai MPC Element Is Now Available

Akai recently announced the release of the MPC Element – A new music production controller that comes with a 1GB sound library. This slim designed hardware controller can work standalone or integrated in your DAW essentially as a MIDI controller. It seems like they’re moving farther and farther away from their original base and towards digital music production rather than the true roots of MPC’s.

Just a Fancy MPD with Software?

I can see this appealing to a wider audience than the original MPC’s, with the budget-friendly price, and the seemingly growing popularity in digital music production – but does the Akai MPC Element really bring anything new to the table? Besides the software and sound library this just seems like a slightly more versatile Akai MPD to me.

Akai MPC Element Software:

Yeah I’d have to agree w/ the MPD comparison. This doesn’t offer anything new to us producers, and TBH I’m becoming less and less of a Akai fan with every new product release within the past couple years
